Privacy Policy
Argus (“we”, “us”) operates this website. This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, how we process it, and what rights you have.
1. Data We Collect
Contact form submissions. When you use the contact form, we collect:
- Your email address
- The message you write
- Browser metadata (user agent, platform, language, timezone, screen size, touch support, Do Not Track preference, referrer) — collected solely to help us understand and respond to inquiries appropriately
- A Cloudflare Turnstile security token, which verifies you are a human and not an automated bot
Server-side metadata. When you submit the form, our server automatically receives your IP address, country, autonomous system number (ASN), and TLS connection details from Cloudflare’s edge network. This is standard for any HTTPS connection and is used solely for security and abuse prevention.
2. How We Use Your Data
- To receive and respond to your inquiry via email
- To prevent spam, abuse, and automated misuse of the contact form
- To maintain a minimum audit trail for security purposes
We do not use your data for marketing, profiling, or automated decision-making.
3. Legal Basis
- Consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR): By submitting the contact form, you consent to the processing of your data for the purpose of responding to your inquiry.
- Legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR): We process server-side metadata and Turnstile verification data to protect the contact form from spam and abuse.
4. Data Processors
We use the following third-party services as data processors:
- Cloudflare, Inc. (USA) — Hosts the website (Cloudflare Pages), provides DDoS protection, and powers the Turnstile anti-bot widget. Cloudflare processes IP addresses and request metadata at the edge. Data Processing Addendum: Cloudflare DPA.
- MXroute LLC (United States) — Relays transactional emails via SMTP on our behalf when you submit the contact form. MXroute processes the email address and message content you provide. MXroute’s privacy policy: MXroute Terms of Service.
Both processors are bound by Data Processing Agreements and appropriate safeguards for international data transfers (EU Standard Contractual Clauses).
5. Data Retention
Contact form submissions (including browser metadata) are stored solely for the period necessary to respond to your inquiry and maintain a minimal security audit trail. Submissions are deleted within 12 months of receipt, or earlier upon your request.
6. Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties except for the data processors listed above, and only to the extent necessary to provide the contact form service. We do not use your data for advertising, marketing, or cross-context behavioural tracking.
7. Your Rights
Under the GDPR, you have the right to:
- Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- Rectification — request correction of inaccurate data
- Erasure — request deletion of your data (“right to be forgotten”)
- Restriction — request limited processing of your data
- Portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format
- Objection — object to processing based on legitimate interest
- Withdraw consent — withdraw consent at any time without affecting prior lawful processing
To exercise any of these rights, email us at Loading…. We will respond within 30 days. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority.
8. Contact
For privacy-related inquiries or Data Subject Access Requests (DSAR), contact our data protection team at Loading…
9. California Privacy Rights
Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), California residents have specific rights regarding their personal information. This section describes those rights and how to exercise them.
We do not sell, share, or rent personal information as defined by the CCPA and CPRA. We do not collect or process sensitive personal information (as defined by the CPRA), nor do we use personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising or profiling.
The following rights are available to California residents:
- Right to Know — request disclosure of the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you, the sources, the purposes, and any third parties with whom we share it.
10. Children’s Privacy
This website is not directed at individuals under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a minor has submitted personal data through our contact form, please contact us immediately and we will delete it. If you are under 16, please do not use the contact form or submit any personal data through this website.
Cookie Policy
This site uses only strictly necessary functional cookies and local storage. No tracking cookies, no analytics cookies, and no third-party advertising cookies are deployed.
Cookie Consent
When you first visit this site, a banner appears at the bottom of the page informing you about the cookies we use. This banner is a transparency notice — not a consent gate. Since all cookies deployed on this site are strictly necessary for the contact form’s security function and your theme preference, explicit opt-in consent is not required under the ePrivacy Directive (Art. 5(3)) or GDPR. Dismissing the banner stores a flag in your browser’s local storage so the notice does not reappear on subsequent visits. No personal data is associated with this flag.
Cookies We Use
| Cookie | Set By | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
__cf_bm | Cloudflare | Bot detection — distinguishes humans from bots during Turnstile security checks on the contact form | ~30 minutes |
cf_clearance | Cloudflare | Stores proof that a Turnstile challenge has been passed, so you are not repeatedly challenged | Session (varies) |
Both cookies are strictly necessary for the contact form’s security function. Without them, we cannot distinguish legitimate users from bots and spam. Under the ePrivacy Directive (Art. 5(3)) and GDPR, strictly necessary cookies do not require prior consent.
Cloudflare, our hosting and security provider, may set additional technical cookies at the network edge for purposes such as load balancing and rate limiting. These cookies are strictly necessary for site operation and are subject to Cloudflare’s own privacy policy.
Local Storage
In addition to cookies, we store the following items in your browser’s localStorage. These are purely functional and contain no personal data. They are never transmitted to any server.
theme-icu: Your colour scheme preference (darkorlight). This persists across visits so you do not see a flash of the wrong theme. It contains no personal data and is never transmitted to any server.cookie-dismissed-icu: A flag set when you dismiss the cookie notice banner, so it does not reappear on subsequent visits. Contains only the stringtrue. Contains no personal data and is never transmitted to any server.
How to Manage Cookies
You can disable cookies and clear local storage through your browser settings. Instructions for common browsers:
Please note that disabling strictly necessary cookies may prevent the contact form from working, as the Turnstile security check requires them.
No Tracking
We do not deploy any tracking, analytics, advertising, social media, or profiling cookies. No third-party trackers are loaded on this site. There is no Google Analytics, no Facebook Pixel, no Hotjar, and no other behavioural tracking technology of any kind.
